KOTA KINABALU: The 2023 Borneo Craft Festival (FKB 2023) taking place here from yesterday (Aug 24) until Sept 10 is targeting a total of RM1.1 million in sales.
Malaysia Handicraft Development Corporation (Kraftangan Malaysia) in a statement today said a total of 60 craft entrepreneurs from Sabah, Sarawak and the peninsula are participating in the festival with a target of 30,000 visitors.
Themed ‘This is Malaysian Crafts’ (‘Ini Kraf Malaysia’), FKB 2023 highlights the subtleties of Malaysian craftwork, particularly the handicraft communities of the states of Sabah and Sarawak through a range of comprehensive activities.
Kraftangan Malaysia said this year’s FKB focus products are accessories and lifestyle craft products made to complement the needs of buyers who are spoilt for choice.
“Based on the concept of Malaysia MADANI’s aspiration which is synonymous with Sabah and Sarawak ethnicity, ethnic and cultural diversity is featured through the uniqueness and beauty of craft products,” the statement read.
“This festival provides a platform for the handicraft community of Sabah and Sarawak to market local craft products and is a meeting place for traders, entrepreneurs and craft wholesalers throughout Malaysia, especially Borneo,” it said.
The organisation of FKB 2023 through Kraftangan Malaysia can boost the economy of entrepreneurs and the craft community, directly benefitting the value chain of the tourism sector in the state of Sabah. – Bernama
