KOTA KINABALU: The Kinabalu Running Club, run entirely by dedicated volunteers, is thrilled to announce the eagerly anticipated dates for two marquee running events in 2024. The club unveiled these dates during a momentous memorandum of signing ceremony with its partners, Pos Malaysia Berhad (Official Logistic Partner) and Life Water Industries Sdn Bhd (Official Water & Isotonic Drink Partner), graced by the esteemed presence of YB Hannah Yeoh, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, who expressed her enthusiasm for these events and their positive impact on promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among Malaysians, during the Ekspo Industri Sukan Sabah (EISS), at the Palm Square Centre Point in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The Kinabalu Running Club, operated entirely by passionate volunteers, is dedicated
to promoting fitness, unity, and sport tourism as well as creating a safe and inclusive
environment for all participants. Stringent health and safety measures will be
implemented in line with local guidelines to ensure the well-being of everyone
involved. Additionally, the funds raised through the marathons are donated to various
local NGOs and charities over the years.
These two upcoming events promise to showcase the region’s breathtaking scenery
and landscapes while providing runners with unforgettable experiences. Notably,
Borneo Marathon stands as the biggest and longest running marathon in Borneo, a
testament to its growing significance in the world of sport tourism since 2008 and
achieved remarkable recognition when it was listed as Ranked 28th among the
World’s 50 Best Running Races by Runner’s World Magazine in 2018.
The new event dates are:
1. Borneo Half Marathon Co-organised with Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu in conjunction with Kota Kinabalu City Day on 4th February 2024
2. Borneo Marathon on 5th May 2024
